Having had their proposed Alcantara launch site taken away from them by the Brazilian government in 2015, which did not want to invest any more funds, the Government of Ukraine has decided to look further afield for a suitable site to launch its nearly completed Tsiklon 4 (Cyclone 4) launch vehicle. The State Space Agency of Ukraine has formally authorised the manufacturer of the rocket to find a suitable location and funding for a new launch location in the North American continent. The launch site is thought likely to be based in Canada which would be an ideal location for sun-synchronous near polar launches. The Cyclone 4 can reportedly carry a payload of 3,700 kg to such an orbit for only US$45 million.
