Orbital Sciences Corps’ Antares 110 launch vehicle successfully launched the 4127kg Cygnus cargo craftinto low Earth orbit on a demonstration cargo mission to the International Space Station from the Wallops Island launch site on the coast of Virginia, USA at 1458 GMT on 18 September 2013. The Orbital Sciences’ Antares/Cygnus unmanned cargo operations follows up the commercial cargo service offered by SpaceX using its the Falcon 9/Dragon. Both commercial systems are part funded by NASA.
