While the previous spacewalk put in three new lithium ion batteries, a new spacewalk was needed to continue the battery replacement task and the new adapters that carry them. On 13 January 2017, during their 5 hour 58 minute EVA beginning at 1122 GMT, NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet attached three new battery adapters and one new battery into the S4 Channel 3A power circuit. The astronauts also removed some covers from a docking port and replaced a camera light tilt.
