Orbital debris removal company Astroscale has raised US$76 million at the close of a Series G fundraising round. The latest boost brings Astroscale’s total funding to US$376 million since the company was set up in 2013.
Based in Japan, Astroscale is developing economically viable space-debris mitigation services including satellite end-of-life and active debris removal services. The newest injection of money will help the company continue its global expansion. The company already has offices and operations in Japan, the UK and the US.
Nobu Okada, founder & CEO of Astroscale said: “On-orbit servicing is a necessary infrastructure for a sustainable and growing space economy, and the key to reducing risk and increasing returns for satellite operators.” He added: “We are on a mission to make on-orbit servicing routine by 2030”.
The Japan based company enjoyed interest from new investors including Mitsubishi Electric, Yusaku Maezawa, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Mitsubishi Corporation and the Development Bank of Japan.
