A Chinese Long March 4B (CZ-4B) rocket was launched form the Jiuquan Satellite launch centre at 0321 GMT on 29 June 2016. The spacecraft launched a satellite into a Low Earth Orbit of 616 x 515 km inclined at 75 degrees relative to the equator. This closely tallies with the launch of Shi Jian 16 which was launched in 2013. Space observers have given the spacecraft the unofficial name of Shi Jian 16-2, which, like its predecessor is built by SAST (Shanghai Academy of Space Technology) and military in nature. The spacecraft is thought to be conducting space environment detection and technological experiments.
