China launched the HAIYANG 1C satellite at 0315 GMT on 7 September on a Long March 2C launch vehicle from Taiyuan Satellite Launching Centre in China. The satellite will be used to monitor oceanic pollution, resource investigation, construction of bayou and ports and for the development of coastal areas. The 442 kg satellite is built by CAST for the China State Oceanic Administration – SOA (CHINA).
