China successfully launched a Long March 2D (CZ-2D) vehicle from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre, China, at 1051 GMT on 14 October into a sun-synchronous orbit. The vehicle was carrying the 508 kg CHASE – the Chinese H alpha Solar Explorer, and the SSS2A educational cubesat. There were also also nine other satellites that have yet to be fully identified. China has placed significant restrictions on the reporting of satellite identities before they are launched.
