The Hai Yang 1D (HY-1D) ocean monitoring satellite was successfully launched by a Long March 2C (CZ-2C). The satellite is designed to monitor ocean temperatures etc. The launch took place from its launch pad in the Taiyuan Space Centre in the Shanxi province of China at 1831 GMT on 10 June 2020. The spacecraft was sent into a near-polar Sun-synchronous low Earth orbit. The launch reportedly used a new design of reinforced fairing.
