A Tianzhou cargo freighter launched by China has docked with its space station on the same day. The mission lifted-off at 0710 GMT, propelled into orbit by a Long March 7 (CZ-7) rocket. The autonomous freighter, called Tianzhou-3, then conducted an automatic docking with the aft port of the Tianhe module of the Chinese Space Station (CSS) seven hours later, at 1480 GMT.
The CSS was previously hosting the three-person crew of the Shenzhou-12 mission until their departure on 17 September. The supplies transported to the station by this freighter will be unpacked and utilised by the next crew due to launch on 13 October as part of Shenzhou-13.
