Chinese Ceres-1 rocket performs first sea launch carrying four smallsats into orbit
At 0934 GMT on 5 September a Ceres-1S rocket built by Chinese company Galactic Energy successfully lifted-off from a modified barge launch platform in the Yellow Sea. Onboard the rocket were four smallsats of the Tianqi (Apocalypse) IoT constellation.
This launch marks the ninth launch of the Ceres-1 rocket, but the first using a slightly modified vehicle to enable launch from a sea platform. Even with this new sea launch the Ceres-1 has managed an enviable 100% success rate over its nine launches.
