After a couple of days delay due to ground weather issues, Crew Dragon – NASA Crew 6 undocked with the International Space Station (ISS) – its home for the last six months – at 1105 GMT on 3 September 2023 ahead of its descent back to Earth. Aboard were US astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren Hoberg. United Arab Emirates’ astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi and Russian cosmonaut, Andrey Fedyaev.
Having jettisoned the trunk section of the spacecraft, the Crew Dragon 6 made its 16 minute deorbit burn starting at 0324 GMT on 4 September. After making its fiery re-entry, the capsule crossed the Gulf of Mexico successfully splashed down at 0617 GMT on the same day in the Atlantic near Jacksonville, Florida. The crew and capsule were later recovered by boat in choppy sea conditions after their night landing.
