The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) has confirmed that it has turned off the Ka-band payload of the communications satellite Express AM-6 and transferred its clients to other satellites. The announcement also confirmed that the underlying cause was a thermal issue. Seradata understands that the satellite suffered a fault in its pump driven heat pipe in February. The fault is expected to result in a small partial insurance loss of less than US$39 million. The spacecraft built by ISS Reshetnev was launched in October 2014 and operated in geostationary Earth orbit over 53 degrees East.
