The UK-based constellation operator, Sky and Space Global, has awarded a full construction contract to GomSpace for its planned 200-satellite nanosat constellation. The contract is valued at EUR€35.0 to 55.0 million over a four-year period. The order follows its initial 3 Diamond precursor test mission of three 3U cubesats, which has just been delivered following an order in February 2016. Sky and Space Global hopes to provide a global narrowband communications system with its equatorially located low Earth orbit constellation, using intersatellite communications and agile pointing. To launch its fleet, Sky and Space Global has four launch bookings on the Virgin Orbit (the newly created launch operating division of Virgin Galactic) LauncherOne air-launched rocket.
