The German Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM) and Spanish, new-space, launch provider, PLD Space signed an agreement on 2 October, during the 69th IAC in Bremen, Germany, for the first test flight of the Arion 1 sub-orbital launch vehicle. The mission, currently scheduled for October 2019, will launch a payload provided by ZARM on a sub-orbital trajectory.
The ZARM payload will consist of about 100 kg of scientific research and technology demonstration equipment. The rocket’s remaining capability will be used by PLD Space for additional vehicle sensors and to demonstrate technologies for their future vehicle developments.
The launch will take place from the El Arenosillo, launch site in Huelva, Spain.
