A PSLV-XL launch vehicle flying from its Sriharokota launch site (officially the Satish Dhawan Space Centre) in India, successfully launched the IRNSS-1D navigation satellite for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The launch took place at 1149 GMT on 28 March 2015.
The ISRO-built satellite which is designed to operate for 10 years, is to eventually be placed in an inclined Geosynchronous Earth Orbit over 111.75 degrees longitude. The seven spacecraft IRNSS regional navigation constellation is designed to be compatible with the European Galileo system.
