A total of 18 rocket launches were made in February, including one carrying lunar lander IM-1, which later became the first commercial spacecraft to land on the Moon – though not without some hiccups along the way. We followed IM-1’s journey from launch all the way to its crash landing on the Moon where it ended up on its side.
Check out where all the launches took place from, in our monthly map and scroll down to see details of every launch made over the last month.
Launch notes
The MARAFON-D (MARATHON-IOT) Internet of Things craft was expected to be onboard the Soyuz 2-1B Fregat-M when it was launched on 29 February from the Vostochny Cosmodrome launch site in Russia. However, MARAFON-D's launch was postponed due to the need for additional software checks and will be re-scheduled once the software checks are complete.
