Fleet Space Technologies (Fleet), an Australian newspace company developing an IoT CubeSat-constellation has closed a Series B round of financing. The funding round raised an additional US$26.4 million for the company according to its 17 November announcement.
Fleet intends to use this new funding to fuel its expansion through the hiring of 70 new employees. These new workers should help it to develop its planned 140-unit constellation. To-date Fleet has launched six CubeSats.
Hydrosat
Following on from an initial US$5 million of seed funding in June, American start-up Hydrosat has raised a further US$10 million to support its satellite ambitions. The company intends to establish a fleet of satellites to provide global thermal infrared maps, in order to monitor the planet’s water cycles. It has already contracted with Loft Orbital to host its first payload on a upcoming mission, planned for 2022.
Astroscale
Commercial satellite de-orbing pioneer Astroscale announced the closing of a Series F financing round on 25 November. The company reported this funding to worth US$109 million, largely from new investors. This new investment brings the sum raised by the company to a reported US$300 million.
This new funding is set to fuel the company’s ambitions for expansion into the satellite servicing market, alongside supporting its development of commercial “End-of-Life Services”. The cash will also enable it to expand its facilities across Japan, the UK, and the USA.
ADA Space
A more commercial Chinese company than most ADA Space (Chengdu Guoxing Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd.) has reportedly completed a Series B round of fundraising. The company states that it has raised US$55.6 million (CNY355 million) from a variety of national sources, in its 20 November announcement. ADA Space is developing the “Xingshidai” fleet of satellites, of which it has five in-orbit. The company is designing a satellite AI payload of which it is reportedly in its 4th generation.
Anuvu
American phoenix-company Anuvu – which was formed from the ashes of Global Eagle Entertainments Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2021 – has secured an additional US$50 million from its investors. The funding is reportedly to be directed towards the two-satellite contract the company signed with Astranis in July. These two small GEO satellites are planned to be launched in 2023 and will complement Anuvu’s current capacity leasing business.
