Poland has ordered two reconnaissance satellites from Airbus Defence and Space (Airbus DS) to bolster its reconnaissance capabilities against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. The satellites are being built by Airbus DS using the basic design of the latest Pleiades Neo Earth imaging satellites which have a 0.3 m resolution. The contract was signed by Polish Defence Minister and Vice Premier Mariusz Błaszczak and French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu in Warsaw on 27 December 2022. The two-satellite contract value is €575 million (US$612 million) with Poland getting immediate access to imagery from the Pleiades Neo constellation according to Defence News.
