The Progress M-024M cargo carrying unmanned spacecraft was successfully launched to the International Space Station at 2144 GMT on 23 July 2014. The launch took place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome near Tyuratam near Kazakhstan. Progress M-024M docked with the ISS Pirs module at 0331 GMT on 24 July 2014.
To make way for the new freighter, the previous cargo craft at the ISS, Progress M-023M undocked from the Pirs module of the International Space Station at 2144 GMT. The spacecraft will remain in orbit for 10 days to conduct engineering tests before being re-entered on 31 July 2014.
