A Soyuz 2-1A launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome (Tyuratam) carrying the Progress MS-24 re-supply craft on 23 August at 0108 GMT. The crafts two-day flight will end when it autonomously docks with the Zvezda service module of the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday 25 August at 0350 GMT.
Progress MS-24 carries around 500 kg of propellant, 420 kg of water, resource equipment, tools, experiment setups, medical monitoring kits, sanitation supplies, food and clothing, totalling around 1,535 kg, along with 40 kg of compressed nitrogen to replenish the station’s atmosphere.
This is the third Progress MS re-supply mission this year. Progress MS-22 was launched on 9 February and Progress MS-23 was launched on 24 May. Progress MS-24 is expected to remain docked to the ISS for around six months during which time it will provide support services in the form or orbit control and correction.
