A small Soyuz 2-1v rocket was successfully launched from the Plesetsk launch site in Northern Russia at 1738 GMT on 29 March. Aboard was the Cosmos 2525 experimental reconnaissance satellite which uses the EMKA (Experimental Small Space Apparatus) bus design. The 200kg satellite which was built by JSC Corporation VNIIEM (AG Iosifyan) was launched into a near polar Sun-synchronous low Earth orbit.
