At 2250 GMT on 31 October a Long March 6A (CZ-6A) rocket successfully carried Tianhui 5 into a near 610km, sun-synchronous orbit. This mission took place from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, northern China. The TIANHUI series of satellites are traditionally described by Chinese media has having cartographic purposes however, Western observers believe these satellites to be utilised by the Chinese military.
