The US-based, Canadian-owned satellite maker, Space Systems Loral has received an order from the Canada-based satellite operator Telesat for a new “High throughput” satellite which will be called Telstar 19 Vantage. It will have two high throughput payloads, one in Ku-band and the other in Ka-band, to serve growing markets in Latin America, the North Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean and Northern Canada.
The satellite, which will be located at 63 degrees West longitude, will use a version of the SSL 1300 bus/platform design. The spacecraft will be launched in 2018 by an, as yet, unspecified launch vehicle.
